BRIGG FOOTBALLERS BID FOR A PLACE IN SHOWPIECE CUP FINAL
With Brigg Town Football Club's scheduled home game called off because of wet conditions at The Hawthorns, local interest yesterday (Saturday, March 10) centred on Briggensians FC who did manage to get a game in and were bidding to secure their place in a showpiece cup final.
However, the Brigg-based team lost 3-1 away to Crosby Juniors in their Tortank Barton Brotherhood Cup semi-final. On the mark for Briggensians was Stuart Briscoe.
In division one of the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League, Barnetby United's home game with Scotter United at the Silver Street ground fell victim to the wet weather.
Barnetby Reserves, in division two, lost 6-3 away to A.F.C. Queensway. Will Hartley (2) and Kyle Sylvester netted for the villagers.
This coming Saturday (March 17), Barnetby United have a home league fixture with Sherpa (3pm). Briggensians and Barnetby United Reserves will not be in action.
