Our thanks go to Coun Nigel Sherwood who kindly pointed out to us the new charging facility installed in Brigg by North Lincolnshire Council.
It is available to owners of 'green' electric-powered cars.
The charging point is in a corner of the Angel car park - vehicular access coming from Elwes Street.
Our close-up picture below shows how much it costs those live-wires of the motoring world who have already invested in electric cars, rather than buying conventional petrol/diesel vehicles.
North Lincolnshire Council has some of its own and we wouldn't be surprised to hear that more are to be added to the fleet.

Just a technical point, Nige. .does the charging cost of £1 per hour include the parking charge?
As the Devil's Advocate, it could be argued the at parking and charging are two separate facilities...a bit like buying a cinema ticket and then getting a hotdog...2 separate payments.

Hypothetically..if 4 hr parking and power charges were costed separately..it would cost £4 + £4 = £8.
If, at the plug-in stage, parking is free..the cost would be a straight £4 for 4 hr charge....but create a saving of otherwise paying £4 for 4 hours parking..so it's free..or,at least, one cancels out the other!
At this rate, it could end up with the Council paying someone to have their electric car charged at the facilities!
For example, someone has a 3hr charge and parks for 5hrs (3hrs free parking while charging + the 2hrs free parking), the cost would be £3 for electric charge minus the fee for 4hr to 8hr parking of £4 equals -£1 in favour of the motorist...do they get a cash reimbursement or a voucher?
Confusing, isn't it?
(ps All tongue in cheek...but has a valid argument)
There's 2 other bit of improvement, thanks to NL Council, about Brigg, Nige..the riverside steps have been overhauled and look attractive and fit for purpose, while, in the open area near Brigg TC office, behind the glass-covered atrium of the Courtyard Cafe, there are now a number of cycle racks for folks wanting to leave the bikes in
a secure place..
Just an over all view...the region makes a very good environment for cycling adventures, weekend cycling groups and we have the riverside cycle track from Brigg to S.Ferriby....but the town is moribund on Sundays..almost as dead as a dodo..if the town wants to promote cycling and thus attract cycling groups, retailer will have to rethink their trading days and bring life to Brigg during the whole weekend.
Would anyone go to Cleethorpes for a family day out, if the place was
closed? One reason that Brigg Garden Centre thrives is because it's open 7/7..and doesn't start to close down just after 3pm in the afternoon.
...and I bet Sherwood's cycle shop is closed on Sundays.....a day which has potential viz-a-viz the development of the new cycle-track..hiring out bikes, and the like to folks...
So if I call in to see my father after 100 mile trip I would have to leave my car plugged in for 8 hours???? I can't see the point. I can stop on the motorway and charge it up for 30 minutes for free while I get a coffee
