People who complete one or more of the Sky Ride Local events taking place across North Lincolnshire, including one coming up in Brigg, will be in with a chance of winning a framed Team GB Olympic 2012 cycling jersey designed by Stella McCartney.
North Lincolnshire Council is working with NHS North Lincolnshire, British Cycling and Sky to get more people riding their bikes regularly.
Sky Ride Local cycle rides are fun, FREE community bike rides that offer a great way of getting out and exploring the local area.
British Cycling has trained local people to become ride leaders.
They will lead the rides and be on hand to provide encouragement and support whenever you need it.
Cycle rides are graded from easy to strong to cater for people of all abilities and there are all sorts of goodies up for grabs for those taking part.
Anyone who completes one or more rides will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win the iconic jersey.
Places must be booked in advance and this can be done online by visiting the Ride Finder pages of the Sky Ride website, www.goskyride.com/SkyRideLocal.
Children under 15 who register and take part in one ride, will receive a goody bag with a poster, flag, Frisbee and stickers.
Once you’ve registered and taken part in two rides, we’ll send you an amazing Frog LED light for your bike.
Then if you register and take part in three rides, a fantastic Sky Ride Local hoodie will be yours.
The rides include:
Easy ABC - Ancholme, Brigg, Cadney, meet at Ancholme Leisure Centre, 2pm, Sunday 8 July, a steady ride for those wanting a relaxed, leisurely pace, open to all ages.
OTHERS ARE BEING HELD ACROSS THE DISTRICT.
Brigg's Coun Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customer services, sport and leisure at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Sign up for any one of the Sky Ride Local events now to be in with a chance of winning this iconic Team GB jersey. It’s the same jersey our country’s top cyclists will be wearing as they take on the rest of the world at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games."
Visit www.goskyride.com/SkyRideLocal to find a ride near you.
Frances Cunning, North Lincolnshire’s Director of Public Health, said: “2012 is putting physical activities like cycling on top of the agenda. Cycling is fantastic way of getting more energetic activity into your daily life and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Sky Ride has rides to suit everyone and is a great introduction to cycling or a way of stretching yourself a bit further if you already go out regularly on your bike.”
