Brigg’s best-kept gardens and top allotments of 2011 have been revealed.
Brigg Town Council, which organises the popular annual competition to reward the green-fingered fraternity, presented prizes at a ceremony in the Angel Suite.
Brigg Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood, who handed out the awards in person, thanked Brigg Garden Centre for its generous sponsorship.
Particular thanks were extended to manager Rod Austin, who undertook the final judging after town councillors had toured the town looking at gardens and drawn up the list for him to consider.
Brigg Garden Centre also provided prizes for the allotments section, final judging being undertaken by Alistair Stothard, of Barnetby.
The best-kept garden in Brigg accolade was collected by Mr and Mrs D Eardley, of 30 Almond Grove, while the allotment prize went to Robert Winn, of 14 East Parade, for Plot 2, Grammar School Road.
Alistair said it had not been a good season for growing crops, in terms of weather.
But Mr Winn, who had only taken on his allotment since Christmas, had worked wonders.
“I have never seen so much hard work,” said the judge.
