I wonder if the Saudi Arabian is our friend x 12, or 12 other guys x 1?
Saudi Arabia has been producing oil since the early 1930's, but it a bit difficult sneaking a barrel of petrol thro' customs - so what else can I scrounge?
When I was out in that part of the world - many, many moons ago, I use to send me girlfriend(s)coconuts, complete in their husks. Use to write their name address on the outside, stick on a stamp and off it went....they all arrived.
Me girlfriends were all a bit disappointed by the size. I mean to say, once the husk is removed, it can be a bit of a let-down to see a diminitive thing lurking inside.
Of an industrial nature, the coconut fibres of the husk were, and are still used for hardy matting.
In the days when boys were men, long before voluminous spongy bags were use in the gym...us he-men use to vault over 8' horses and then do a forward rolly-polly across the coconut matting.
We didn't complain - despite our backs looking like pin cushions and the excruciating pain - stiff upper lips prevailed.
Now health and safety are called in if someone rises to a height of more than a foot.
Failing coconuts, Christmas approaches.....any chance of same dates? Ripe dates just ooze with syrup.
Dates are particularly good out here Ken and there are about 14 different varieties to choose from, similar to spuds in the UK. I'm coming home in October so I'll bring some along and give them to young Nige.
I'm probably cheating Nige's counter by reading in the morning at work and at night at home - hence 2 visits per day over 6 days and on the 7th I rest, well actually play golf.
