There were mixed results for teams from the Brigg and Broughton clubs in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League yesterday (Saturday, April 30).
Broughton's first teamers enjoyed a fine Division One home win over Scunthorpe side Appleby-Frodingham 2nds.
The Steelmen were bowled out for 76, with Shaun Clark taking five wickets at a cost of only 22 runs, while Paul Clark and Robbie Ward managed two wickets apiece.
Opening batsmen Richard Stone (35 not out) and Nick Dobbs (31) then shared a 52-run partnerships as Broughton won by eight wickets to claim the maximum 20 points available.
Brigg Town and Broughton 2nds suffered defeats in Division Three West.
Playing their first fixture of the season, Brigg Town opted to bat first but managed only 61 away to Haxey 2nds - a total the Isle of Axholme side's opening pair knocked off themselves.
Brigg's leading scorer was Jack Richards, who made 18 at the top of the order.
Broughton 2nds secured five bowling bonus points by dismissing Scunthorpe Town 3rds for a modest 100 at Hibaldstow, as Sam Hayton took four for 17.
But Broughton fell short on 95, despite Steve Johnstone contributing 33 in the middle order.
