From Brigg Town Council
With regret, due to the level of snowfall and the forecast that more is on its way, the Town Council and Brigg & District Lions have taken the decision to cancel the Brigg Christmas Lights Switch On and Christmas Fair scheduled for this Friday evening - 3rd December 2010.
NF adds: This is a sensible move, taken in good time. But we can't help pointing out it's a shame that the one year we get some truly festive weather for the switch-on, the event can't take place. Disappointing for Brigg youngsters, who would have had a truly memorable event; snow this heavy at this time of year doesn't come along more than once a childhood. But all those out-of-town visitors who arrive by car would have been struggling. Brigg pubs will now be missing my usual pre-Christmas boost to their takings, but Tina and staff at the renowned R&B off-licence, in Springs Parade, will benefit. ...or just, 'Brigg Cancelled'
If Mrs F's washing line (see previous pix) is anything to go by, the weight of the snow could bring down the cables!!!
