CONIFER TRIMMING PROPOSED

Notice of intention has been given to reduce and trim a very large conifer tree situated within Brigg's town centre Conservation Area. It is near Nos 2 and 30 Wrawby Street. The matter is now with North Lincolnshire planners for consideration.

Where's Nos 2 and 30, Nige? Is the tree very wide?
I haven't noticed a giant redwood about Brigg.

Nige has had a word in me shell-like....re Nos 2 and 30...the tree is near the China Garden (Lily's), the Vines and the old police houses opposite. House numbering is this area is confused.....and the Wrawby St bit is the part that many wrongly assume is Barnard Ave (from GSR to Monument).

House numbering in Brigg is confusing, Nige.
Most roads use the alternating form of odd numbers on side and even numbers on the other. But, for example, the numbering in Albert St chronologically starts on the left, progresses up the street and the ordinal numbering returns down the right-hand side.
In Glebe Road, No 1 is on the right, numbering progresses up the street and returns on the left side.....except the newer houses at the top of road are numbered out of sequence....so, for example, 48 is neart GSR, while 50, for example, is at the opposite end of street.
When I lived in the one of the named, large Edwardian houses in Bigby Road (near junction of St Helens), we often had people knocking at the door looking for, for example, No 7 Bigby Road...The row of terraced houses, and the now extant medical centre (it was the pre-cursor of the Riverside surgery in the 80's. were evenly numbered and started from around 12.It took me years to realise that Bigby Road actually starts from its junction with Queen St and includes such properties as Elizabeth Terrace and continues over the Monument roundabout to the level x-ing, after which it becomes, Bigby High Road. Bigby St. starts only after Quenn St.

Further to me postings above - during me rambling about Brigg this morn, I've identified the 'large' tree between 2 and 30 Wrawby St. But it doesn't look large to me, Nige - small/medium, but some of its branches appear to overhanging the footpath.

Numbering in Wrawby St is confusing as we have a case of 'identity theft' when it comes to No 2. 'Number 2', as displayed very clearly above the doorway, is
'Dancers Plus', next to the Black Bull, while No '2' (aka Fairway), next to 30 is a residential house..at the other end of the street. (in the old police complex)

I assume that the gas and electricity people know the difference and that the emergency services already know the difference between the two No 2's!
