Those involved with drawing up the Brigg Community-Led Plan took the opportunity afforded by the Town Mayor's fundraising coffee morning in the Angel Suite on Saturday morning to update the public on the progress being made, collect people's thoughts and answer questions.
Over recent months, members of the community have been asked how they would like to see Brigg develop and invited to state what they like and dislike about Brigg.
Once completed next year, the Community-Led Plan will be a kind of blueprint outlining how Brigg folk want their town to be.

Brigg’s best-kept gardens and top allotments of 2011 have been revealed.
Brigg Town Council, which organises the popular annual competition to reward the green-fingered fraternity, presented prizes at a ceremony in the Angel Suite.
Brigg Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood, who handed out the awards in person, thanked Brigg Garden Centre for its generous sponsorship.
Particular thanks were extended to manager Rod Austin, who undertook the final judging after town councillors had toured the town looking at gardens and drawn up the list for him to consider.
Brigg Garden Centre also provided prizes for the allotments section, final judging being undertaken by Alistair Stothard, of Barnetby.
The best-kept garden in Brigg accolade was collected by Mr and Mrs D Eardley, of 30 Almond Grove, while the allotment prize went to Robert Winn, of 14 East Parade, for Plot 2, Grammar School Road.
Alistair said it had not been a good season for growing crops, in terms of weather.

“I have never seen so much hard work,” said the judge.

FINE FUNDRAISER FOR BRIGG MAYOR'S APPEAL FUND
Brigg Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood's charity coffee morning in the Angel Suite was well attended yesterday. The raffle proved particularly popular with the Brigg Blog staff - just three £1 tickets bought from Coun Mike Campion bringing us a very decent bottle of wine and a big box of chocs. Cancer support and LIVES first responders were represented - the Mayor's chosen charities for his year off office. Fellow town councillors and council staff also offered the event their full support.
Pictured above, left to right, are: Town Mayoress Kathryn Kitwood, Coun Rob Waltham, Coun Ann Eardley, Coun Andrew Markham, Coun Jackie Brock, Coun Mike Campion, Coun Alec Depledge, Town Clerk Jeanette Woollard and Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood.
Shortly we hope to be able to announce how much was raised on the day.
On the Town Mayor's behalf, if you went along, thanks for your valued support.

NO LIKEY, NO LIGHTY - CONTINUED
St Helen's Road, Brigg, is not very well illuminated at the best of times - largely because there are so many trees and bushes in people's front gardens.
However, while strolling along the street last night about 9pm we thought it was particuarly gloomy - before realising there's a street light out of action.
It's about halfway down, nearly opposite Ted Dodd's old house (No 22). It was too dark to read the number on the lamppost. But hopefully this will be sufficient information for Coun Nige to don his Cabinet Member hat yet again on a minor Brigg issue and get the highways folk down to effect repairs.
PS: Any news on sorting out the footpaths in Central Square/East Parade?

BRIGG RACE FUNDRAISER FALLS AT FINAL HURDLE
Brigg’s China Royal Restaurant, in Bridge Street, was to have been the venue for a fundraising event in aid of North Lincolnshire Music and Drama Festival.
But the Race Night earmarked for Thursday, October 6 has been cancelled.
This is because the organisers discovered similar events around the same time and wished to avoid a clash.
The Music Festival Race Night is only on hold and will be held at a later date.
Watch this site for details.
Tom Glossop (PICTURED), Brigg’s first Freeman and former long-serving councillor (now retired), asked us to point out the cancellation, on behalf of the organisers.
We note there are still quite a few posters advertising the event in shop windows around Brigg.

BRIGG LIBRARY VENUE SWITCH
The first stage of the plan to move Brigg Library from its Old Courts Road building to the Angel, off the Market Place (pictured), will be among items under discussion when Brigg Town Council's Planning and Environment Committee meets at the Angel Suite on Monday (Sept 26) at 6.45pm.
Town councillors will be considering the following applications, on which final decisions will be made at North Lincolnshire level:
Change of use of bungalow to a clinic, Fircroft, 3 Wrawby Road.
Extend time limit of application (granted previously) to build five three-bedroom terrace houses, 22A Market Place.
Install new doors and window for relocation of the Local Link and Library to the ground floor of The Angel, Market Place.
This scheme is being proposed by North Lincolnshire Council, which runs the Angel, the Link and the Library.
Following the planning meeting, at 7.30pm, the monthly meeting of Brigg Town Council will be held in the Angel Suite.
As usual, 15 minutes has been set aside at the start for Public Question Time, during which any member of the public is welcome to raise Brigg issues of interest.
Both these meetings are open to the public.

PAY BRIGG TOWN CENTRE A VISIT TODAY
Brigg is well worth a visit today (Saturday) for many reasons.
1) The new car parking concession means you can park free for two hours in the central Old Courts Road car park, off the A18. Additional use of this North Lincolnshire Council facility in the past month has resulted in less competition for available free spaces near Tesco and Lidl. If you use Old Courts Road, though, don't forget to get a ticket from the meter and display it.
2) From 9am to about 3pm, the monthly Brigg Farmers' Market in the Market Place will offer the chance to buy produce straight from the people who make it and cut out the middle man.
3) The general Saturday market will also be buzzing, with stalls in the Market Place and along Wrawby Street.
4) From 10am there's a charity coffee morning in the Angel Suite, just off the Market Place, in aid of the Town Mayor's Appeal Fund. Pop in for light refreshments through the glass doors leading into the Angel Courtyard. At 11am Brigg Town Council will present awards to those in the town judged to have the best-kept allotments and gardens, following the annual competition. Visitors can also have their say on how they'd like to see Brigg develop in the future by talking to the people currently drawing up the first Brigg Community-Led Plan. Stop for a chat and all will be explained.
5) Have you been down to the new Sankey's Sweet Shop yet? It only opened on Tuesday, in Wrawby Street, and has already seen a steady stream of customers - often queueing out the door!
6) Don't forget Brigg other established town centre shops, many of the specialist variety. Nor our range of pubs and eating establishments.
We hope to see you at some point today, as Brigg Blog will be out and about - notebook and camera in hand.

KIDS' FOOTBALL STILL POPULAR AT BRIGG REC
Wondering why there were many cars parked down at Brigg Recreation Ground as we came past at lunch-time on Saturday, Brigg Blog stopped to investigate.
There was a youngsters’ football match under way, the players being cheered on by many mums and dads.
The referee was in full kit, so we presume it was a junior league game of some kind.
We didn’t have time to go to the touchline, explain who we were and show the coveted National Union of Journalists' Press Card (recognised by all Britain’s Chief Constables, no less). Nor did we have our valid CRB Certificate (Enhanced) with us in the car.
Sadly, these days, even as a full paid-up member of the Press, it’s unwise to take close-up pictures of kitted-out kids on a public park, in case someone gets the wrong idea.
Back in the 1960s, as boys, we played our Glebe Road School house matches on this same part of the Recreation Ground. In the 1980s it was also home to a narrow hockey pitch, on which Brigg Town 3rds and 4ths played their home games.
So many happy memories!

EMOTIONAL 'PRELUDE' DAY AT LINCOLNSHIRE RACECOURSE
Emotions will be running high at Market Rasen Racecourse on Saturday when the son of the late Ginger McCain who trained Red Rum to three Grand Nationals will target the major races.
Tributes have been flooding in for the Aintree legend who was also successful with Amberleigh House in the Grand National and who died on Monday two days short of his 81st birthday.
Saturday is a poignant day at the Lincolnshire racecourse too because the winner of the Tom Halliday Scholarship - awarded annually in memory of the young jockey who died after his horse fell at the track in 2005 - will be announced.
In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, the racecourse set up the scholarship through which a conditional jockey - one who is serving his or her apprenticeship - receives expert sessions on schooling, nutrition, and media training, plus coaching from staff at the Northern Racing College in Doncaster.
The feature races on Saturday are the newly Listed £30,000 totescoop6 Prelude Hurdle, run over two miles and one furlong, and the Listed £50,000 totepool Prelude Chase. It's a day of racing that is as prestigious as the racecourse's Totesport Summer Plate in July.
Donald McCain Jnr, who emulated his father with the victory by Ballabriggs in the Grand National in the spring, is aiming to run Drill Sergeant in the hurdle race and Alderley Rover in the steeplechase.
His charges will face stiff competition from 2011 Summer Hurdle winner
Viva Colonia and Summer Plate hero Qulinton.
Welsh trainer Peter Bowen, who saddled the winner of the Prelude Chase three years in a row until 2009, is strongly represented with four of the initial 23 entries.
Pip Kirkby, the racecourse's managing director, said: "We have worked hard in recent years to create an excellent racing day in late September which falls between what is popularly regarded as the 'summer' jump racing season and the major National Hunt campaign that leads all the way to the Cheltenham Festival and the John Smith's Grand National.
"The quality of the horses being sent to run at the Prelude meeting continues to improve and that is reflected in the recent upgrading of the Prelude Hurdle.
"There is bound to be big support for the horses of Ginger McCain's son Donald Jnr. And we also have the very important announcement to make about the next Tom Halliday Scholar."
