THREE-MONTH BRIGG FOOTPATH CLOSURE SCHEDULED TO END

 

Brigg walkers, ramblers and dog exercisers will be keen to see whether a three-month temporary closure of a public footpath in the town is to be extended.
The Public Footpath 30 suspension was sanctioned by North Lincolnshire Council last autumn. The local authority made a legal Order prohibiting people from using the path beside the New River Ancholme for its entire 1,270-metre length from Pool End to Bridge Street "to facilitate safety improvements to the railway line."
This Order runs until February 5, but when making it the council said this date may be varied to take account of unforeseen circumstances.
As things turned out, the length of the walkway nearest to Bridge Street has remained open and Brigg Blog used it to take these pictures at the weekend.
Eventually you come to temporary fencing (seen above) with an Environment Agency sign alongside one saying Caution - Construction Traffic and another explaining the footpath is closed beyond this point.
Behind the fencing, in the distance, there's evidence of work being carried out near the river bank towards the railway bridge which carries the Cleethorpes to Sheffield line over the New River Ancholme.
