BRIGG FOOTBALLERS KEEN TO STEP UP PROMOTION PUSH
Briggensians FC - based in Brigg - will resume their season in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League this Saturday (January 6) following the Christmas and new year break.
Second-placed Briggensians host mid-table Crosby Colts in division two, kicking off at 2pm.
Unbeaten in the league this season, having won five and drawn one of their six fixtures, Briggensians have plenty of time, and matches in hand, to clinch promotion to the top flight, either as champions or runners-up.
They are currently six points behind leaders Crosby Juniors, having played two fewer matches.
Barnetby United Reserves, who are fourth in division two, journey to bottom team Santon tomorrow.
Barnetby's first teamers prop up division one and could do with a victory tomorrow when hosting College Wanderers at the railway village's Silver Street ground (2pm).
This may well prove no easy task as Wanderers are second in the standings while Barnetby have lost all six league games this season.
