COMING SOON: BRIGG PUBLIC TOILET REOPENING
Brigg is soon to enjoy public toilet reopening, which will bring obvious relief to those needing to pay a visit while in the town centre.
This will definitely be achieved next week but may happen a little earlier than that.
Initially, it seems unlikely that ALL the toilets/urinals on Cary Lane and East Park will be available.
But the good news is it WILL be possible to 'spend a penny' again - free of charge!
Social distancing will be observed and frequent cleansing will be carried out by North Lincolnshire Council.
The toilets were closed some weeks ago when the Coronavirus emergency began.
Coun Rob Waltham, the North Lincolnshire authority's Leader, announced the impending reopening during last night's Brigg Town Council meeting, stressing that cleaning would be stringent.
Concerned about facilities again being made available for shoppers, Coun Ann Eardley raised the WC issue.
Our picture shows the locked-up public conveniences on East Park, near the Tintab shelter, earlier this week at a time when a number of Brigg shops were reopening after lockdown.
This resulted in more people visiting the town centre. However, our pubs - all with toilets - remain closed.
So 'answering the call of nature' options are currently limited.
On Monday, West Lindsey District Council reopened WCs in Gainsborough, Market Rasen and Caistor, with social distancing required while queueing for, or using, the facilities.
North Lincolnshire Council has 20 public WCs under its control across the district, including the two blocks in Brigg.
