SIX TREES IN THE BRIGG CONSERVATION AREA CAN BE PRUNED

Six trees within the Brigg Conservation Area can now be reduced in height.
An application was submitted on behalf of Prime Life Ltd, seeking permission to prune six lombardy poplars behind Southfield House Care Home, on Albert Street.
North Lincolnshire Council has now given the necessary consent so the work can proceed.
A council officer's assessment report advised against the authority making a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) in this case.
"The trees are visible from the street scene along Albert Street as a backdrop, but not considered significant due to the distance from the street," the report said.
"The land to the rear appears to be mainly industrial in the proximity of the trees. The largest tree on the eastern side of the row has a large cavity at the base and the other trees are not in a brilliant condition. The Hybrid Poplar does have heavy branches that are leaning towards the property."
The report described the trees as "not significant with the street scene" and unworthy of a TPO.
Brigg Town Council - consulted about the pruning plan - had raised no objections.
