There's positive news to report following Brigg Blog's recent post about litter being left in the Tintab seating shelter near the Monument just two days after a cross-town clean-up by well-meaning volunteers.
Following our pictures showing discarded fast food wrappers left on and under the bench seating, we received word that a community-minded couple who live in this part of town have taken it upon themselves to pick up litter on East Park, where the Tintab shelter is located, and also to mow and edge the grass. They are also interested in doing a spot of bulb planting on the park at the eastern end of the town centre when the time is right.
A further bouquet for public spirited actions should go to workers at the nearby Hand Car Wash.
Late one afternoon we observed them shovelling up, and binning, large quantities of wind-blown leaves near their place of employment, which borders Bigby Street and Princes Street. They also hosed down the road to complete the task.
