Brigg Blog in confident these four pictures will generate interest among people who like to look back on social life in the town as it was decades ago.
They were taken at various times during 1965.
The above scene - captured from the stage at the Corn Exchange, we think - shows some of the people who attended a masked Christmas fancy dress ball that December. How long is it since the town saw one of these? Note the tiara-wearing ladies at the front.
The photographer had obviously asked all the guests to remove their masks before recording the scene. Can anyone suggest the group that might have organised this "do"?
The second picture shows that year's Festival of Queens, possibly also held at the Corn Exchange.
Next comes Brigg Flower Society's "first meeting" according to brief caption details on the original print.
And last (but not least) we see Professor John Cohen who attended a meeting of Brigg Ladies' Luncheon Club as guest speaker. The venue appears to be the Angel Hotel.
Can you spot anyone you recognise on the pictures?
Brigg Blog would also welcome confirmation that this was the flower society's launch event. It could be that it was the first meeting held that year.
The cavernous Corn Exchange was used for a host of different events and was a real loss to the town when it was demolished in the 1990s. By then the Victorian structure was in need of considerable investment on repairs - much more than Glanford Borough Council was prepared to spend.
Even if Glanford had stumped up the cash back then, subsequent 'health and safety' demands would have required further spending in the years ahead.
