BRIGGENSIANS BEATEN BUT BOTH BARNETBY FOOTBALL TEAMS WIN WELL
Briggensians Football Club - based in Brigg - lost a cup-tie away from home yesterday (Saturday, October 12) but both Barnetby United teams were victorious.
Barnetby's first teamers remain top of the league, having won all four opening fixtures in the 2019/2020 season.

The EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League saw the completion of round one of the Johnsons Transport Ironstone Cup as New Holland Villa won 5-0 against Briggensians - thanks to a Chris Thomas brace and further goals from Chris McConnell and an own goal.
In Division One, Simon Igoe and Greg Dent scored for AFC Honest Lawyer as they lost 3-2 to The Butchers Arms, for whom Leon Burtt scored twice along with an own goal.
Lewis Ritchie scored for Epworth Town Colts Blues as they were beaten 4-1 by league leaders Barnetby United, whose scorers were Brendan O’Callaghan (with two), Will Hartley and Cameron Hill.
Nathan Plumtree scored four goals and Max Batty one as Limestone Rangers won 5-3 against Crosby Colts, for whom Alex Fenwick, Robert Short and Lewis Greathead all scored.
First half goals from Jamie Pickwell and Jacob Sweeting gave Scotter United a 2-0 half-time lead over College Wanderers. A Martin Igoe goal for College early in the second half made Scotter work hard to hold on for a 2-1 win.
In Division Two, doubles for Joe Plaskitt and Daniel Newell, plus one goal from Amadou Jarra, saw Barnetby United Reserves avenge last week’s cup defeat by the same opponents when beating Scotter United Reserves 5-2, Andy Hood and Ben Sausby being Scotter’s scorers.
A Shan Jawaid brace gave Crosby Colts Reserves a 2-2 draw against Limestone Rangers Reserves, whose scorers were Lee Stamp and James Hewitt.
Josh Housam scored twice for Santon as they won their first game of the season - 2-1 against Epworth Town Colts Development, whose goal was scored by George Metcalf.
