BRIGG FOOTBALLER NETS HAT-TRICK
Brigg football team Briggensians ended the season on a positive note in the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District League yesterday (Saturday, April 27).
Briggensians visited The Butchers Arms and gained a 3-3 draw, courtesy of a Ben Lingard hat-trick.
Second-from-bottom Briggensians have now completed their first programme since gaining promotion to the top flight. They won four and drew three of their 21 league fixtures, scoring 36 goals and conceding 60.
Barnetby United enjoyed a fine 3-1 win at A.F.C. Queensway yesterday, Brendan O’Callaghan scoring twice for the villagers with Ben Hunt also on the mark.
Barnetby are on course to finish fourth in the eight-team league.
In Division Two, second-placed Barnetby United Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at the Silver Street ground by Limestone Rangers Reserves. Liam Dawson and Dominic McGuire netted for Barnetby.
Barnetby teams have a game apiece coming up this week to complete their programmes, both kicking off at 7pm.
Monday, April 29: Scotter United Reserves v Barnetby United Reserves.
Wednesday May 1: Barnetby United v Scotter United.
