BRIGG BLOG'S FOOTBALL ROUND-UP FOR SEPTEMBER 22, 2018
Brigg Town Football Club recorded their fifth successive victory in the Balcan Lincolnshire League Premier yesterday (Saturday, September 22, 2018).
The Zebras beat Wyberton 3-2 at The Hawthorns with two goals from Jake Reed and one from Reece Moody. The winning goal was a very late one.
Brigg stay top of the table, having drawn their opening match but won the remainder in a cracking start to the 2018/19 campaign.
The Zebras have a three-point lead over second-placed Lincoln United Reserves who also won yesterday.
In the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District League, sponsored by a Brigg company, local sides had mixed fortunes in the T.S.W. Printers Sporting Shield first round.
Barnetby United won 5-2 when hosting Sherpa at Silver Street. On the mark were Ben Hunt (2), Micky Dunnion, Andy Bradley and an own goal.
Briggensians, of division one, suffered a 3-2 defeat when visiting second division newcomers Hibaldstow Wanderers in a local derby.
Daniel Harding (2) and Mark Thornber scored for Hibaldstow, with Steve Broughton and Kyle Reeves on target for the Brigg team.
In division two, table-topping Barnetby United Reserves drew 2-2 at Limestone Rangers Reserves.
Liam Dawson and Ross Hempstock got the goals for Barnetby, who had won their previous three league games.
