10TH ANNIVERSARY COMING UP IN BRIGG
There's a 10th anniversary coming up for a Brigg town centre business.
Althams Travel moved to new premises on Wrawby Street and held a grand opening on Thursday, October 9, 2008.
A free glass of wine was on offer to customers who dropped by the new venue a decade ago.
Althams took over, and refurbished, the former Brigg Photolabs premises.
Photolabs closed in December 2007, due to retirement, having provided a photographic processing and printing service since the early 1980s.
Fresh Start launched a new Brigg and District Lunch Club at the Ancholme Inn, on Grammar School Road, 10 years ago - two courses for £5.50p. The pub has since been demolished with new housing built on the site.
Brigg Hockey Club stalwart Steve Baggott had just started his 40th playing season in September 2008.
Humberside Police were still holding quarterly public meetings when members of the public could raise issues of concern to them about policing, crime, highways and road safety issues in Brigg and the surrounding area.
One of these Neighbourhood Policing Panel meetings was held in September 2008 at the Angel Suite, being chaired by town councillor (now Freeman) Tom Glossop.
"It's well worth attending to find out what's going on - even if you have no intention of getting up and having your say," Brigg Blog told its followers 10 years ago.
The quarterly sessions were later withdrawn by the police. These days Brigg crime figures are made available online through the website www.police.uk
