Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council took on the new approximately 10-mile Ironstone Walk and raised £220 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
The Ironstone Walk is a circular walking route around the southern part of Scunthorpe and Bottesford, which opened at the end of April.
Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The Ironstone Walk is a fantastic route that allows you to discover some of Scunthorpe’s best parks and green spaces and linking them to our industrial heritage.
“If you haven’t already tried out the walk, I’d definitely recommend it. Even if you have lived in Scunthorpe all of your life, you might discover areas you never knew existed. It really is great and it doesn’t matter whereabouts you start as it’s a circular route.
“I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who donated and to those who joined us along the way. The money raised will help support the amazing work that Lindsey Lodge Hospice does.”
On the walk, Cllr Waltham was joined by Lindsey Lodge Hospice Fundraiser Sharon Tune. She said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Cllr Waltham and everyone who supported us as we were out on the Ironstone Walk.
“Every penny donated will go towards ensuring we provide the best possible care to our patients and their families.”
Conceived by the Local Access Forum, the Ironstone Walk links together many of the town’s green lungs including Central Park, Greenacre Park, Bottesford Beck and Ashbyville Local Nature Reserve.
