BIDDING TO ATTRACT MORE TOURISTS TO BRIGG & DISTRICT
More tourists could be paying Brigg a visit as a result of a North Lincolnshire Council initiative this week.
The local authority, which owns and operates Brigg Tourist Information Centre at the town centre Buttercross, is represented at the top British Travel and Tourism Show during English Tourism Week (17 to 25 March).
The event, at Birmingham NEC, is on 21 and 22 March (tomorrow and Thursday) and will see the council and its partners showcase the variety of things to do, see and explore in North Lincolnshire in 2018.
These include "unique market towns with independent retailers and places to eat" and also quality accommodation, "attractive landscapes" and the Ancholme Valley Way.
Coun Rob Waltham, from Brigg, the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “English Tourism Week is a fantastic opportunity to shout about tourism in North Lincolnshire on national scale.
“We all know how great North Lincolnshire is and the variety of activities, attractions and experiences it has to offer. But we want people to come and discover this for themselves.
“The British Travel and Tourism Show is the perfect platform to let everyone know about North Lincolnshire. We have everything from rich culture and heritage to beautiful walks and country parks.
“2018 is going to be a brilliant year for North Lincolnshire. A stand out event is Go Ape at Normanby Hall opening on 24 March. It shows the confidence national businesses have in our area as a place to invest.”
English Tourism Week is organised by Visit England and celebrates the vibrancy and quality of England’s visitor experiences and world-renowned tourist attractions.

The notice boards per se don't really generate an excitement to visit the town.
ReplyDeleteThey are there presumably to promote the town and district's activities to visitors, but they uniformingly contain an outdated map....
a really incentive to attract new visitors to the area!
Perhaps there is a need to exploit these notice boards with information and photos of forthcoming events....changed regularly and show the NYC is actually keeping abreast of the the things going on in and about Brigg.
nth lincs is more of a day visit except for fishing camp sites nth lincs hotel,b&b,caravan & camp sites are used mostly as a base to visit a wider area.
