PLAN TO DEMOLISH TOWN CENTRE STORE ONE USED BY WELL-KNOWN RETAILER IN BRIGG AREA
A shop formerly used by a well-known retailer in the Brigg area has been earmarked for demolition.
An application has been submitted and is now being considered by North Lincolnshire Council planners.
This is to determine "the requirement for prior approval for demolition of former Co-Operative shop and store at 106 High Street, Broughton."
A document submitted in support of the application says the Co-op has built a new store nearby, meaning the previous shop and store are no longer required.
It is suggested: "The buildings have gone past there useful life; they are an eyesore and spoil the street scene."
The applicant, who lives in Broughton, proposes to redevelop the site for residential purposes which will be the subject of a future planning application to the council.
