Brigg famously has its Joseph J Magrath Award for voluntary service to the community, honouring a former long-serving Town Clerk and nationally important figure in the provision of road safety.
This trophy has been presented to worthy winners every spring for many years.
There is also a business-related trophy for the best building renovation/improvement.
North Lincolnshire Council holds something similar but covering its district from Haxey in the east to Killingholme in the west; Redbourne in the south to Alkborough and Barton in the north.
The district competition has may more categories and people living in the Brigg area can make nominations now, to go with those coming in from other areas.

The council’s sixth Community Champion Awards is taking place on Thursday 23 November to recognise the unsung heroes in North Lincolnshire. Have you nominated yet?
You can nominate an individual or group who you think deserves an award. Nominations can be made online at www.northlincs.gov.uk/champion or by contacting the community recreation team on 01724 297270 or emailing community.recreation@northlincs.gov.uk for a nomination form.
Do you know an individual or group that deserves an award:
- For the time they have dedicated to volunteering?
- For their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community?
- To recognise their personal achievements in overcoming barriers or excelling in a sport or the arts?
- For their work in the local community?
- For being a true inspiration to others?
Make sure they get the recognition they deserve and nominate them for a 2017 Community Champion Award. There are 23 awards you can nominate people for.

The closing date for nominations is 30 September 2017.
Winners will receive a trophy and certificate, and runners-up will receive a certificate.
