COUNCIL WELCOMES PLANS TO EXPAND BRIGG BUSINESS WITH SHOP & EATERY

Plans to expand a Brigg business have gained the support of the Town Council.
When the Town Council considers schemes it can choose to raise objections, make observations or give its support.
And in the case of plans to extend a business on Island Carr, off Bridge Street, it has expressed support.
Well-known Brigg businessman Mick Smith, who has a number of properties in the town, is seeking permisison to erect an extension incorporating a cafe, to relocate a steel container and change the use of land to a car park.
The existing Harrison's Hideaway Cafe at Smith's Fishing Pond offers a range of meals to the general public as well as anglers using the pond which is close to the River Ancholme.
The shop/cafe building - pictured below - also provides equipment and supplies for anglers.
When Brigg Town Council considered the application, Coun Mike Storey, who is chairman of the authority's Planning & Environment Committee, said the extension was "due to demand" for the facility.
He pointed out that another specialist fishing tackle shop elsewhere in the town had closed some time ago.
Coun Storey suggested the Town Council should support the application to extend the facility at Smithy's Pond, and that was agreed by fellow councillors.
The application will now be considered by North Lincolnshire Council, the local planning authority, which will make a final decision.
