BRIGG TRAIN PASSENGERS WILL REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER

FROM PAUL JOHNSON, BRIGG RAILWAY LINE CAMPAIGNER

Remember, Remember the 5th of November, they say. Well, for passengers using the Brigg line, it was a disaster.
All 6 Saturday services yesterday ran with these delays:

  • 0803 Sheffield to Cleethorpes, 6 mins late at Brigg due to rail head issues at Kirton in Lindsey.
  • 1114 Cleethorpes to Sheffield 6 mins  late at Gainsborough Central due to rail head issues at Kirton in Lindsey.
  • 1203 Sheffield to Cleethorpes 36 mins  late at Cleethorpes, safety checks and signal failure.
  • 1520 Cleethorpes to Sheffield 42 mins late at Gainsborough Central, safety checks and signal failure.
  • 1601 Sheffield to Cleethorpes 69 mins late at Brigg, safety checks and signal failure; train terminated at Grimsby Town.
  • 1843 Grimsby Town to Sheffield, 38 mins late at Brigg.
A total of 195 minutes' delays were clocked up on just the 6 services, and will no real time information. At the 3 Saturday-only stations, passengers were left wondering where their trains were.
The station lighting is still not working at Brigg, first reported on 1st October,
with locals needing to bring torches to help customers over the footbridge!
At Gainsborough Central, reports were the station lights went off at 20.00 with the late service arriving  after this.
