COMPLETION OF £575K FLOOD ALLEVIATION WORK WELCOMED BY BRIGG COUNCILLOR

Brigg's Coun Rob Waltham has welcomed the completion of an anti-flooding scheme in the district.
North Lincolnshire Council invested £428,000 along with £142,000 from the Government and Environment Agency to carry out flood alleviation work in Barnetby, which has now finished.
The funding was used to provide surface water and ground water drainage improvement works on Woodland View and Chestnut Grove.
Surface and groundwater flooding was a problem in this area of Barnetby during the 2007 and 2010 floods. The work that has been carried out will prevent this from becoming a problem again.
The work carried out included:

  • Installation of a surface water carrier drain and sealed manholes linked to the existing drainage system that moves downstream to the drainage system located on the former Deborah Services Ltd land
  • Installation of a buried pumping station manhole on the former Deborah Services Ltd land
  • Dry pond installed on Woodland View to install a dry pond

Coun Waltham, who is deputy leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Surface and groundwater flooding has been an issue on Woodland View and Chestnut Grove in Barnetby for many years, which has caused problems for the residents. Our investment and funding from the Government and Environment Agency has now made the drainage system a lot more effective. The works that have been carried out will make a big difference and prevent further problems in the future. Thank you to residents for their support and patience whilst work was taking place."
