Brigg Blog is delighted to see that Flying Scotsman, the world famous steam loco, is back in action after a multi-million pound refit.
We have seen a picture of Flying Scotsman heading an excursion near Kirton Tunnel in 1968, which suggests it came through Brigg.
We can't remember that or explain why, if that was the case, we weren't by the lineside when it came to town.
However, we do recall going to Barnetby station on a rain-soaked day in September 1968 to see Flying Scotsman at close quarters.
It stopped in the station, giving the crowds plenty of opportunity to admire the 1920s speedster.
Flying Scotsman was the first loco to be officially recorded attaining 100mph.
A few years later, Sir Nigel Gresley's Mallard, in 1938, managed 126mph - still tops for a steam loco anywhere in the world at any time.
Did I hear that the FS is coming to North Lincs in June?
