Did you know you can recycle food and drink cartons at home in Brigg?
North Lincolnshire Council recently made changes to what can be recycled in burgundy bins, to include food and drink cartons.
These cartons can be recycled along with plastic bottles, tubs, trays and cardboard; making it easier for households to recycle even more.
Previously, residents could only recycle food and drink cartons at Household Recycling Centres, like the one near Broughton.
As well as the introduction of cartons, you can also recycle yoghurt pots, margarine tubs and ice-cream containers in your burgundy bin. All containers need to be emptied of any food or liquids and rinsed out.

Coun Nigel Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds), cabinet member for highways and neighbourhood said: “We have increased the amount of materials that can now be recycled at home; making it easier for residents to recycle even more. It is important that we reduce the amount that goes to landfill unnecessarily each year. It costs us around £40 more for every tonne of waste that goes to landfill – this is waste that could have been recycled.
“I would like to thank everyone for their recycling efforts. With your continued support we can do even better in 2015 and increase our recycling rates in North Lincolnshire.”
