BRIGG'S DID NOT PROVE A BRIDGE TOO FAR

Andrew Percy, centre, Conservative MP for Brigg and Goole, with Coun Rob Waltham, left, and Coun Carl Sherwood, on the County Bridge yesterday.

Brigg County Bridge has been given a facelift after calls for investment going back many years.
The pledge to improve the bridge came earlier this year from Conservative councillors on the North Lincolnshire authority. And they've carried it through, following their election success.
One of the walkways has been reopened after being shut to the public for many years, while replacement metal railings have been added - much more in keeping with the Conservation Area and the grade two listed building status of the early 19th century landmark.
Couns Nigel and Carl Sherwood and Rob Waltham were keen to show the work to Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy when he visited Brigg yesterday to attend the Remembrance Sunday parade, service and wreath-laying.

  1. For once I have to congratulate the councillors on their proactive
approach to the County Bridge repairs .
The south walkway has been blocked off for such a long time and now the whole bridge looks genuinely more attractive with added funcionality.
Whereas the bridge was in a pedestrianised zone it is never wise to walk down the middle of the bridge as a speeding van appears over the horizon travelling in the opposite direction .
