BEER TODAY BUT CERTAINLY NOT GONE TOMORROW!

Let's all go along and raise a glass to Brigg District Lions and the fine work they do to help worthy causes and needy people. For from 7pm tonight the group's ever-popular beer festival gets under way in an industrial unit off Atherton Way, Brigg.
If you can't get along tonight, try tomorrow when the festival also opens at 7pm; Saturday it's 11am-11pm; Sunday, noon-3pm.
Personally, I like to visit a Brigg pub or two on the walk there and back. It's always been that way but I can't really explain why. You'd have thought that a choice of more than 30 beers would be enough for anyone!
It's good to savour a pint at the festival with old friends, including former Brigg Hockey Club team-mates and Brigg Town cricketers, and to meet some other people for the first time to chat over a relaxing pint or three.
Not everyone is like me - a middle-aged male real ale devotee; there are a few of us, it's true, but many under-30s attend the festival. And lot of ladies, too.
Our picture shows Mike and Heather Johnson pulling a pint for "yours truly" at last year's event. Chinook Blonde was not one of the lovely ladies we mentioned earlier, by the way. Though she was full-bodied!

A GALLERY OF PICTURES FROM BRIGG BEER FESTIVAL'S OPENING NIGHT, PLUS REPORT, WILL APPEAR TOMORROW ON...

  1. 'Chinook' - does it give you wind, Nige?.....Or does it make you hover for more?
