BRIGG BLOG SENDS CONGRATULATIONS ON COUPLE'S 65TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Brigg Blog sends belated congratulations to local couple Arthur and Rose Bunyan on their 65th wedding anniversary.
They enjoyed an evening "do"  at the Red Lion, Broughton.
We got to know Arthur well while attending scores of Glanford Borough Council meetings during the 1980s at the wood-panelled council chamber in what's now Hewson House,  off Station Road, Brigg.
He was one of three Broughton councillors on the authority, the others being Phil Grundy and Tom Beacock.
In recent years, Brigg Blog attended meetings of North Lincolnshire Council's Planning Committee that Arthur chaired at Scunthorpe Civic Centre.
Following Arthur's retirement, Coun Nigel Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds) took over this important role - one he still holds today.
We had a word with Arthur a few weeks ago at Broughton Workingmen's Club after the funeral service held for ex-Town Clerk Bryan Simpson at the nearby church.

In case you were wondering, a couple's 65th is known as their sapphire anniversary.
Better known are 25th (silver), 50th (golden) and 60th  (diamond).
