Brigg Town and Broughton managed to complete their games in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League despite some sharp showers affecting parts of the region yesterday (Saturday, July 2).
Brigg - for various reasons - took a below-strength team to Messingham 2nds for a Division Three West fixture and suffered a narrow three-wicket defeat.
Town had only nine batsmen but managed to post 148 before being bowled out - David Baggott top scoring with 34 and Nick Beacock hitting 29.
Skipper Danny Bradley then took four wickets for only 10 runs as Messingham were tested before recovering well and finally securing victory.
Brigg earned five bonus points from this game but remain at the foot of the table.
Broughton enjoyed a convincing 20-point home victory over Clee Town Laportes in Division One.
Richard Green led the way with an unbeaten 81 as Broughton made 195 for nine in their 45 overs.
Shaun Clark (four for 12) and Paul Mitchell (three for 23) were then instrumental in dismissing the visitors for 90.
Also victorious at home were Hibaldstow in Division Two, but without bowling a ball or scoring a run.
Holton-le-Clay 2nds conceded what for them was an away fixture, and Hibaldstow have been awarded 20 points in accordance with league rules.
