FORMER BRIGG RESIDENT RAISES £100K FOR LOCAL CHARITIES

Incredible! That's the only way to describe a former Brigg man's £100,000-plus fundraising efforts for local charities.
Coun Peter Clark, who grew up on Mill Lane, Brigg, and now lives in Barrow-on-Humber, raised £100,099-27p while three times serving as the Mayor of North Lincolnshire - the last of which concluded very recently.
Coun Clark and his wife Carol told Brigg Blog this week: "Our third term of office as the Mayor and Mayoress of North Lincolnshire came to an end on the 18th of May.
"It has been an honour to be ambassadors representing and promoting North Lincolnshire and we were proud to take it on for a record third time."
Delighted to attend civic services in Brigg which had been his home town, Coun Peter added: "Carol and I have thoroughly enjoyed our terms of office and have met some wonderful people who do extraordinary things.
"Over my three terms of office, just over £100,000 was raised for my Mayor's Appeal Fund.
"The first two terms of office benefited the charity When You Wish Upon A Star and our final year was for Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Scunthorpe, and another local charity The Sunflower Children’s Action Group.
"I would like to thank all my supporters for their kind support.
"It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience we shall never forget and we are very proud we had the opportunity to do it."
Coun Peter is pictured above cutting a celebratory cake to mark the official opening of the Age UK Lindsey charity shop on Wrawby Street in October 2017 during his second spell as the Mayor of North Lincolnshire - the initial term being in 2013/14.
