Conceded fixtures took the shine off the Saturday sports scene for Brigg clubs on a warm and sunny afternoon yesterday (Saturday, May 14).
However, both Broughton cricket teams did take to the field in ideal conditions.
Brigg Town Football Club Development were unable to raise a side for the visit to Wyberton - the Zebras' final fixture of the season in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier. Wyberton are the champions of this competition.
Brigg Town Cricket Club was short of available players and conceded the scheduled fixture at Alford 2nds in Supplementary Cup Group Three - Alford being awarded the points.
Broughton 2nds enjoyed a narrow victory at Messingham 2nds in Group One of this competition which begins with qualifying leagues before progressing to semi-finals.
There were two wickets apiece for Broughton's Jack Johnstone, Matthew Oades and Ben Fish as the home team posted 192 for seven.
Broughton openers Jake Parker (with 89) and Steve Johnstone (31) then gave their side a good platform and the rest of the batting order managed to piece together sufficient runs to secure a win with two balls remaining in the final over.
Broughton's first teamers lost their home game in Division One.
Lincoln side Hartsholme totalled 183 for nine as Paul Mitchell claimed three for 27 from his permitted nine overs.
However, Shaun Clark's middle-order 40 was the only sizeable knock as Broughton were dismissed for 129.
