BRIGG PUB PLANS A CRAIC-ER OF A CELEBRATION FOR ST PATRICK'S DAY 2022

A special celebration is being planned at a Brigg pub for St Patrick's Day 2022  tomorrow (Thursday, March 17).

The Dying Gladiator, on Bigby Street, which has long been holding what it terms Thirsty Thursdays, is combining the latest with the annual patron Saint of Ireland's day.
There's an open invitation to "shake your shamrocks" on St Patrick's Day at The Glad and to sing familiar Irish tunes (and more) with the hostelry's resident DJ, Disco Dave, from 9pm onwards.
There will be a special Irish vodka jelly shot free for all karaoke singers... "and plenty of craic!"
Long-serving landlord Eugene Irwin is from The Emerald Isle.
Many Brigg residents will recall the era of Myles and Mary Scanlon at the Nelthorpe Arms, on Bridge Street, when Irish songs were a familiar feature, with pints of Guinness to lubricate the vocal chords.
The popular couple were mine hosts from the mid-1960s through to the early years of the current millennium.
Shamrocks were also to the fore at Scruffy's theme bar, part of the Exchange complex for some years. It was located close to the rear car park.
