CHRISTMAS 2021 WILL BE COMING EARLY TO BRIGG WITH COMMUNITY MEAL

Brigg is to see a community meal served up to guests by volunteers in the run up to Christmas 2021.
This pre-Christmas function will be hosted by the Brigg Angels WI (Women's Institute) in the town centre's Angel Suite on Saturday, November 27.
Previous meals have been generously supported by Brigg Town Council with grants contributing towards the cost.
When town councillors held their September meeting earlier this week and considered an application from the WI for assistance with this year's festive spread, they responded by agreeing to fund the entire event, to the tune of £830.
Further details abut the Christmas Meal 2021 are expected to be announced by the Angels over the coming weeks.
Brigg Blog took up an invitation to drop in at the last Angel Suite 'do' which was held in December 2019.
We didn't sit down to dinner but did talk to many of the guests. They were full of praise for the organisers, who put in a great deal of hard work to make everything run smoothly.
Our illustrated post two years ago noted: "Christmas spirit was evident in Brigg when a team of volunteers gave up their time to host the town's annual Christmas Community Meal last Saturday afternoon (December 28, 2019).
"It was organised by the Brigg Angels Women's Institute for 90 people who might otherwise have been spending some of the festive period on their own.
"The venue was the town centre's Angel Suite community venue, and the three-hour event included a two-course meal, drinks, entertainment from Summer Woosey and Pheobe Hunt of the Musilova Theatre School, music from Ben Thomas, free-to-play bingo and a raffle with lots of fine prizes.
"The WI's guests enjoyed the get-together - and they all took home a Christmas gift."
Sadly, last year's meal could not be held because of the emergency lockdown period's restrictions on gatherings.
