Brigg's successes in the East Midlands in Bloom Awards for 2021 were officially announced by Town Mayor Coun Brian Parker to fellow councillors and members of the public at the beginning of the Town Council's latest meeting, held in the Buttercross.
Coun Sharon Riggall, who chairs the Brigg in Bloom group of hard-working volunteers, was unable to be present at this session.
But she had earlier expressed her pride that "our wonderful town and residents" were awarded gold and silver commendations at the East Midlands awards ceremony in Grimsby.
In the small town category, Brigg received the silver award.
Derek Capp, of Almond Grove on the Newlands estate, won gold for the best front garden.
Old Courts Vets were awarded a silver gilt certificate in the best business/commercial premises category.
There were certificates of recognition for "young Jack" and also for the best spring bulb display.
There was a judge's certificate for Brigg and District Veterans/Nancy Tague's planter.
Coun Riggall added: "East Midlands in Bloom noted that Brigg in Bloom evidenced a good mix of excellent community involvement."
The hard work by individual groups within the town were described as fantastic.
It was acknowledged that there were good quality planting and maintenance throughout the town.
The shrub border outside the allotment plot was described as a good example of a perennial border.
Coun Riggall thanked all the groups and residents involved in Brigg in Bloom for their continued support in the planting areas, stressing: "Now we need to get ready for next year."
Helpers can message her through Facebook to show their availability and to express their interest in becoming involved.
Some of the regional award winners had earlier enjoyed success in Brigg Town Council's best-kept garden and allotments awards. View details here...
