Permission has been granted to fell a tree within the Brigg Conservation Area.
North Lincolnshire Council received a notice of intention to remove the Ash behind Merivale, a property on Bigby Road - not far from the junction with Kings Avenue.
Consent to carry this out has now been given.
A document supplied to the local authority with the notice explained the tree was diseased and "rotting from its base."
A subsequent assessment report by council staff said: "This tree is situated within the rear garden of the property, is not clearly visible from the street scene and is not significant within the public realm or wider landscape.
"Taking into consideration the location of the tree, the lack of significance within the street scene and non-contribution to the landscape, this tree should not be further protected by a TPO." (Tree Preservation Order).
