BRIGG AREA CRICKET ROUND-UP AS NEW SEASON BEGINS IN GLORIOUS WEATHER

Brigg Town and Hibaldstow missed out on some glorious Spring weather yesterday (Saturday, April 17) as they were without fixtures on the opening day of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League season. However, there was a run-packed match at Broughton.
The first Saturday of the season is often greeted by chilly conditions and heavy showers, but the second teams of Broughton and Grimsby Town were greeted by blue skies and sunshine yesterday at the Scawby Road ground.
Grimsby won this high-scoring Division Two game by 50 runs, being helped by a century from experienced all-rounder Dave White. He made 120 before being bowled by Sam Hayton, who finished with four for 51.
Chasing Town's daunting 246 for seven in the permitted 45 overs, Broughton were all out for 196 - Richard Stone scoring 40, Josh Smith 30 and Sam Benson 26.

In the Premier Division yesterday, former Brigg Town all-rounder Liam Redmond scored a half-century for Lincoln side Lindum.
