The KCOM communications company explained its new project in Brigg during a presentation made at the Town Council's latest meeting.
KCOM had contacted the authority and been given an opportunity to set out its intentions.
Representatives of the Hull-based firm provided details during a session which was, fittingly, carried out in virtual fashion over the internet.
Delivering Full Fibre Broadband was explained - full fibre optic with connections to those familiar green cabinets seen on Brigg streets.
Shallow trenches will be dug in some paths but the firm made it clear these will be covered over and the surface repaired to a high standard.
Coun Rob Waltham asked KCOM to be as considerate as it could be to residents while carrying out this work, and also asked it to be respectful of the town centre's conservation area.
The company also outlined its keeness to help the local community in various ways through grants and sponsorship, including the provision of kit for sports teams it may be able to support.
In a circular letter delivered to many Brigg households explains: "As well as providing extra network capacity which is now in unprecedented demand, the infrastructure we're installing will ensure a back-up for existing broadband services at a time when it's more importnt than ever for people to stay connected with family, friends and work," KCOM says.
The company stresses that the work being done will not interfere in any way with any existing broadband or mobile services "as it is a completely separate network and does not share any infrastructure or technology."
To lay its full-fibre broadband network, KCOM engineers "will need to dig up parts of the street which may include pavements, grass verges and roads."
However, it assures residents that it will do everything it can to minimise disruption.
