Many people in the Brigg area will be very sad to learn that the Lincolnshire Show 2021 - due to be held over two days in June - has now been CANCELLED.
Our tourist office at the Buttercross has sold tickets for this county showpiece over many years, and some Brigg companies always take stands.
Explaining the cancellation three months before the show was due to take place, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society said it was taking this step with much regret and sadness.
In a statement to the press we received last night (Tuesday, March 9) it explained: "We have done everything possible to try and facilitate a Show for this year, but with concerns over ongoing restrictions for large events and the proximity of time between step 4 and the Show, we felt that the most responsible thing to do was to postpone until 2022.
"We have continued to monitor the Coronavirus situation and whilst the vaccination programme is progressing well, it has become evident that it is unfeasible to run the Lincolnshire Show this year due to ongoing uncertainty."
The society stressed this was a very difficult decision to make.
Before establishing its permanent showground just north of Lincoln off the A15, the society took the event to various venues, and some shows were staged in Brigg (on land off Bridge Street) and also in Scawby Park.
