Following our weekend post about a leaking pipe on Yarborough Road in Brigg, Anglian Water began work on Sunday and continued on Monday.
Workmen had just left the site when we took this mid-afternoon picture yesterday. Water had ceased to flow down the street, but protective barriers remained in place around a deep hole excavated under the pavement where the leak became evident on Saturday morning.
Anglian Water told us yesterday that sandbags were used to prevent the water escaping into customers' driveways and properties "but it wasn’t causing any impact on local customer supplies so they were left in place until the permanent repair team could come in."
Elsewhere in the town, Anglian Water started work on pipe repairs in the town centre yesterday - this project being due for completion on Wednesday. The location is the edge of the pedestrian area where Wrawby Street meets Cross Street (near the Hair By Peter salon). The footpath and the nearby road are both expected to be affected in due course, with drivers advised that delays are likely to result.
