New Year congratulations from Brigg Blog, and many other local people, go to Jon Sass who receives the MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List for his tireless voluntary work within the heritage sector.
Jon, the chairman of the Wrawby Postmill Preservation Society, receives his coveted medal for services to the water mills and windmills of the UK.
The once derelict hilltop mill in Wrawby was restored early in the 1960s, and Jon has been actively involved since the end of that decade - holding a succession of posts. He has also written books about mills (example pictured above) and given talks on this topic.
Commenting on Jon's honour on social media, his Wrawby Mill colleagues describe him as "a wonderfully kind gentleman who is always happy to pass on his amazing knowledge and skills to anyone who asks and who has taught all of the team here at Wrawby Mill how to ensure that the mill stays standing proud in Wrawby for many years to come."
