This is National Curry Week and Brigg people are warming to the task of tucking into this type of spicy fare from local restaurants and as takeaways.
Brigg restaurants specifically dedicated to curries are the Mumbai Lounge on Old Courts Road and the Bengal Spice on Wrawby Street, which also offer takeaway services; we also have two fast food takeaways - Diya Spice on Bigby Street and Brigg Tandoori in the Market Place.
Online takeaway platform Foodhub informs Brigg Blog that Britain’s "love affair" with Tikka Masala may be coming to an end, as new research during National Curry Week shows the UK’s taste for hotter curries is increasing year-on-year.
Foodhub surveyed 2,000 takeaway fans for National Curry Week and almost a quarter of people say they are now eating hotter curries.
Spokesman Wil Chung explains: “The last decade has seen the Tikka Masala reign supreme as Britain’s No 1 curry, but our research shows that tastes across the nation are changing and the iconic Tikka Masala’s place at No 1 looks under serious threat from hotter curries like Rogan Josh, Madras and even Vindaloo."
Brits can’t get enough curry, it seems. Foodhub's data shows that 11% eat curry between three and seven times a week, with a further 22% eating curry at least once a week. Only 10% never eat curry.
Foodhub tell us that 25% of people always go to the same Indian takeaway, while 38% alternate between two or three outlets.
"We know what we like, it seems," Foodhub points out.

National Curry Week opened on Monday (October 5) and ends of Sunday (October 11). Many people living in Brigg and district may well be tempted to have a curry this weekend.
