70 NEW HOUSES PROPOSED IN BRIGG

A large new housing development is proposed for Brigg with an application seeking outline permission now submitted to North Lincolnshire Council for consideration.
70 dwellings are proposed - with appearance, landscaping, layout and scale reserved for subsequent consideration by the local authority.
Keyo Agricultural Services is the applicant (through a Grimsby-based agent) and the proposed location is off Island Carr Road on a site covering two hectares. It is intended to provide a mix of four, three and two-bedroom properties.
The suggested site - towards the northern end of Island Carr - is close to the Old River Ancholme and the new cut. Some warehousing currently occupies part of the site.
A flood risk assessment submitted with the application says: "The site has not flooded within living memory and the site was not flooded in 1981."
That spring saw extensive flooding along the Ancholme Valley, Brigg Blog recalls.
The scheme will "contribute to the local authorities’ new build housing targets," the council has been informed.
Other benefits outlined by the applicant include removing redundant buildings and improving the immediate area in terms of appearance and environmental factors.
Brigg Town Council will be consulted as part of the planning process and will pass on its views to the North Lincolnshire authority, which will then decide the application.
