BRIGG PARISH CHURCH REOPENS WITH CHANGES AFTER LOCKDOWN

St John's Church in Brigg - August 2020 - having reopened from lockdown and held its first Sunday service

Church services have resumed at St John's Parish Church in Brigg town centre, but without the hymn singing.
That's probably just as well for audibility, as masks must be worn by the congregation - in accordance with the Coronavirus emergency regulations. And that requirement would muffle the sound of collective worship.
A helpful notice explaining this and other restrictions was issued to parishioners by church authorities ahead of the service on Sunday (August 9) which was conducted by the Rural Dean of Yarborough, the Rev David Rowett.
Those attending St John's services who forget to take a face covering with them can buy one for £1 on arrival - a stock being held at the church for this purpose.
Hopefully the government-imposed mask-wearing requirement will have been lifted by the time the festive season arrives, permitting singing from the pews to return to normal.
If so, Silent Night might be a topical choice.
