People in Brigg are being given a sporting chance at the Recreation Ground, off Wrawby Road.
Activities at the town's sporting hub have been reduced since late March during the Coronavirus emergency, with no home games this summer for Brigg Town Cricket Club.
However, tennis was one of the first pastimes permitted to return by the government some weeks ago, subject to certain safety measures being put in place.
A Back to Tennis course is to be held on Mondays, from 7pm to 8pm, at Brigg Recreation Ground, beginning towards the end of the month. Covid secure guidelines will be in place. Participants need their own racket and must be aged 16+. It costs £5 a session, and they will be led by top coach Adam.
For more details, and to book your place, go to the Brigg Tennis Club Facebook page or call 07921 625264. You will then be informed of the starting date.
The lavish revamp of Brigg Rec by North Lincolnshire Council a few years ago included the provision of some impressive new tennis courts, in addition to an all-weather floodlit 'Blue Astro' hockey pitch and a top-grade changing room block with showers.
A community room, suitable for serving refreshments to visiting sports players, was included on the side of the block - overlooking the cricket pitch.
The Rec once boasted grass and solid tennis courts; it's all-weather only these days.
The ground was created in 1952 after Brigg Urban District Council purchased Woodbine Farm, including farmhouse and outbuildings - the latter being used as rudimentary changing rooms.
It doubled up as the Glebe Road School's sports ground.
Glanford Borough Council ran the Rec from 1974 to 1996 when the new North Lincs authority took charge. Brigg Town Cricket Club was re-established in 1974 after a gap of 30 years and played home games at The Rec.
Many football clubs have used the Rec for the best part of 70 years. Virus-related restrictions permitting, it's hoped that more football matches (senior and junior) can be played at the venue during the 2020/21 season which is due to end next April. The same applies to hockey for men, ladies and colts.
