VISITOR ATTRACTION POPULAR WITH BRIGG PEOPLE LOOKING TO EXPAND FACILITIES
A popular visitor attraction for families in the Brigg area, and for many others living elsewhere in northern Lincolnshire, is seeking to expand.
An additional play barn is planned at Hall Farm Park, on Caistor Road, South Kelsey.
Permission for the new facility is now being sought from Gainsborough-based West Lindsey District Council.
The well-established farm park, occupying 200 hectares (2.47 acres), is visited by people of all ages, particularly family groups and various educational organisations, including schools.
Planners have been told: "A new purpose-designed building is proposed to expand the existing business.
"Hall Farm Park is a busy educational centre for adults and children which sees a large number of school visits a year to visit the animals."
The proposed building will be steel-framed and carefully sited "from a visual and operational point of view."
No additional jobs are expected to result from the addition of the new play barn, and council planners are now considering the application.
Councillor Lewis Strange, who represents the Kelsey area, says he is offering his full support to the application made by proprietor Andrew Knapton, through an agent.
Family-run Hall Farm Park - located at LN7 6PR on "the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds" - opened in 2006. Youngsters can meet a range of farm animals including goats, cattle and sheep, and take part in indoor and outdoor activities.
The award-winning Pepper Pot Tearoom serves meals, cakes and drinks, and there is a gift shop. Current attractions include a heated indoor play barn, indoor animal barn and tractor and covered trailer rides around the site.
