SECOND APPLICATION MADE FOR PLANNED CO-OP STORE IN BARNETBY
A second application relating to a planned new store for Barnetby has now been lodged with North Lincolnshire Council.
In early November the Lincolnshire Co-operative sought approval to build a convenience/food store on land off Victoria Road, not far from the railway underpass.
The Co-op has now been back to the council with a licensing application requesting permission to sell alcoholic drinks 'by retail' between 7am and 10pm, seven days a week.
The planning and premises licence applications are now being considered by the local authority; no decisions have yet been announced.
Planners received only one comment from the public about the planning application - the person in question supporting the proposed store and suggesting it's "just what Barnetby needs" by offering a wider choice of items than are currently available in the village.
The Co-op is looking to build 3,997 sq ft premises with shop, storage, staff facilities and ancillary parking.
If approved by the council, there will be sales space of 3,014 sq ft offering a range of groceries, alcohol and tobacco-based products.
The planning consultation period expired in December; any comments about the licensing application must be made in writing to the Licensing Department, North Lincolnshire Council, Church Square House, 30-40 High Street, Scunthorpe, by February 12.
A number of Co-op convenience stores have been built in North Lincolnshire in recent years - including one in Hibaldstow, pictured above.
