BRIGG TOWN COUNCIL AGREES TO 'FREEZE' COUNCIL TAX PRECEPT - AGAIN
Here's some new year good cheer... Brigg householders will not have to pay any increased charge to fund the Town Council for the 12 months from April 2020.
At its budget-setting session for the 2020/21 financial year, Brigg Town Council unanimously agreed to "freeze" its precept.
That's the amount it requires local households to pay towards its services.
A Band D property in Brigg will therefore continue to pay £69.24p a year to the Town Council, with slightly different amounts for other bands.
However, the vast majority of the overall council tax bill is made up money required by North Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Police and the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service.
These three organisations have yet to decide their charges for 2020/21.
North Lincolnshire Council - known as the precepting authority - sends out annual demands and collects the tax on before of all organisations which have the right to charge householders.
Brigg Town Council also 'froze' its precept for the current financial year (2019/20) which ends in early April. This decision was taken at a meeting held in late January 2019.
